Motioning the party back as they surged forwards in anticipation, it began scrutinizing both sides of the ravine that lead down to the river. Seeing nothing, but unconvinced, knelt and began a more intense study of the places an ambush predator would most likely be lurking. Only this delay didn’t sit well with others behind it. Annoyed by the grumbling the leader turned and fixed the offenders with an glacial glare followed by a low menacing growl, vanquishing any further descent. Distracted by this impatience, it became aware of a sharp pain in both hands. Glancing down, the leader realized that it had absentmindedly been gripping its clubs so tight that,blood had started oozing out between the its fingers. Fully recognizing the†¦show more content†¦As it watched bewildered as thousands of grazing life forms across the savanna become affected by the same feeling malady, all seemed to paused in their foraging to look up quizzingly at the sky. The whole valley had gon e eerily silent, even the insects and birds who were just a moment early creating a symphony of chatter, suddenly stopped. Then as if on cue, every bird roosting in the trees simultaneously took to the sky. What happened next would forever changed the fate of not one but two worlds. The continuous shock wave that rolled across the savanna was loud enough to hurt the senses. The air displaced by the arrival of the heavily damaged spacecraft, pulsed with so much force that the ground rolled, knocking the leader from it’s feet. Then there was pandemonium. The noise and bedlam that followed was horrendous. Prey and predator alike fell victim to blind panic, as the larger more agile life forms began trampling anything that was unable to get out of their way. Fast as a lightning strike the ship had cleared the savanna and was on directly over their heads slicing a fiery path through the jungle behind them. And right on its heels came the mass of terrified life forms dying and screeching at the river’s edge.
